AccredNet Welcoming 2023 Conference Attendees to Atlantic City This Week

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Chair Harry J. Delgado and the AccredNet Leadership Team look forward to welcoming attendees to the 2023 AccredNet Conference in Atlantic City this week.

The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police’s (NJSACOP) Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is hosting the 2023 AccredNet Conference. The event takes place May 17-19 at the Tropicana Casino.

NJSACOP Executive Director Mitchell C. Sklar, Esq., NJSACOP President Chief Thomas Dellane and Atlantic City Police Chief James A. Sarkos will provide welcoming remarks on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, Director Hugh T. Clements Jr. of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) will provide an overview of federal law enforcement agency accreditation standards, and participate in a Q&A about federal standards.

Chief David Hicks of the Department of Defense and Special Agent Shannon Apple will present on National Security Background Investigations and U.S. Code Federal Title 5 Chapter 91 compliance, which is in regard to accessing criminal history records.

Attendees will also be able to sit in on a presentation about state accreditation models and final assessments, with input from an experienced agency assessor.

Gordon Graham will speak on accreditation and risk management Thursday afternoon — specifically, how accreditation is vital to the creation of a high-reliability organization. Graham frames his programs around the importance of understanding risk and integrating real risk management practices into everything agencies do. Through the program, attendees will understand how to better identify risks through accreditation and how they can mitigate those risks within their organizations.

On Friday, AccredNet will host its business meeting.

Prominent vendors include PowerDMS, PM AM, Lexipol and John Guilfoil PR. Several vendors will also be present throughout the conference.
