AccredNet Hosts Successful 2023 Conference

60 Conference Attendees Represented 16 State Accreditation Programs

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Chair Harry J. Delgado and the AccredNet Leadership Team are pleased to share the success of the 2023 AccredNet Conference, which was hosted by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police’s (NJSACOP) Law Enforcement Accreditation Program from May 17-19 in Atlantic City.

There were approximately 60 attendees representing 16 state accreditation programs from all regions of the country.

Speakers and presenters throughout the conference included: NJSACOP Accreditation Program Director Harry J. Delgado, NJSACOP Executive Director Mitchell C. Sklar, NJSACOP President Chief Thomas Dellane, Atlantic City Police Department Chief James A. Sarkos, U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Director Hugh T. Clements, Jr., Department of Defense Chief David Hicks, Department of Defense Special Agent Shannon Apple, Evesham Township Deputy Police Chief Thomas Reinholt, and Gordon Graham of Lexipol.

Topics covered by the various speakers included: 

  • Proposed Federal Standards for State Programs
  • Title V Background Investigations
  • Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Accreditation Model
  • Risk Management Systems and Legal Concepts in State Accreditation
  • Leadership Principles in Accreditation
  • Recognition-Primed Decision-Making
  • Rules to achieve success: safe operations and deployment ready
  • Accreditation, customer service, accountability and integrity

The conference was well-received by attendees. Attendees provided feedback describing the conference as worthwhile, informative and addressing relevant contemporary accreditation issues.

“The annual conference is a great way to bring together law enforcement accreditation program directors from across the country to share successes and best practices,” Chair Delgado said. “I would like to thank the AccredNet Leadership Team, the NJSACOP Law Enforcement Accreditation Program team, and our speakers, vendors and attendees for making the 2023 conference so successful.”

AccredNet also hosted its business meeting. Among many topics discussed, AccredNet approved a membership application process with annual dues per state per calendar year. Members also discussed the framework to engage partners to support AccredNet in furthering its mission and provide financial resources. Lastly, Chair Delgado appointed a Strategic Planning Committee to identify a clear path for AccredNet moving forward.

Several vendors were also present during the conference. Notable vendors included  PowerDMS, PM AM, Lexipol and John Guilfoil Public Relations.
